Upsy Daisy In the Night Garden Cake

Upsy Daisy In the Night Garden Cake

I made this In the Night Garden cake for my obsessed 2 year old daughter. Used banana cake, need a heavy cake for the white icing. I cut the cake into 6 parts, legs (minus feet), arms (minus hands), head and body.

Ice the head first with skin colour white icing. Make the hands fully out of this icing too (they're impossible to make out of cake, I tried)! Orange icing for the arms and legs. and dress top, red for the skirt etc etc.

A lot of icing in this cake. Make sure you roll it as thin as possible so the cake is actually edible! This cake was a real hit with my daughter.

Coolest In the Night Garden Gazebo Cake 10

Homemade In the Night Garden Gazebo Cake

Homemade In the Night Garden Gazebo Cake

I baked 2 8-inch cakes for this In the Night Garden Gazebo Cake. I cut the dome from one of them and placed it on top of the other one to make the top bit more "pointy". I used marshmallow fondant to cover the cakes. The middle bit is a toilet roll wrapped by foil and yellow marshmallow fondant. I put some sparkly straws for extra support for the top cake.

Then I put the figures on the bottom cake. My 2-year-old loves it! She loves playing with the figures and that reminds her her birthday cake too! She always mention it!

Awesome gazebo cake

If you make a gazebo cake like this one, maybe you could also feature a tree, the tune bridge, the Tombliboo bush, the Daisy Patch, and the Stepping Stone Path?

Coolest In The Night Garden Birthday Cake 7

Homemade In The Night Garden Birthday Cake

Homemade In The Night Garden Birthday Cake

This In The Night Garden Birthday Cake was for my daughter's 1st birthday. We were unable to find a cake we liked so decided to give it a go ourselves. We made the sponge cake with jam and cream and used green icing round the cake to make the grass.

We then draw the character on very thin icing sheet and painting them. We then laid that on top and added some more smaller details on the grass. The hardest part was writing the wording at the bottom. That took me many attempts.

This is the result! Hope you like it.

Coolest In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy no 1 Birthday Cake 22

Homemade In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy no. 1 Birthday Cake

Homemade In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy no. 1 Birthday Cake

This In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy no. 1 birthday cake was really fun to make. I used a bottomless no. 1 cake tin and this to was double up to be able to fill with homemade butter cream and strawberry jam.. It was left in the fridge and straightened all the sides to look perfect ( hopefully ).

All the figures, Upsy Daisy etc. are all hand made and took about a day to make. Upsy was pretty difficult as 1st attempt. I hope you like the cake. I am pretty proud of the outcome.
