My dad and I made this butterfly cake for my mum's birthday as she likes butterflies. We made it using two square cake tins. We then cut around wing templates that we had got off the internet to make two wings. A leftover strip from the cake was iced pink and made the body.
We stuck a wing cake either side and iced it blue, with pink icing piped around the edge to neaten it. We used pink smarties for a spotty pattern, and two blue smarties for eyes. For antennae we twisted purple and green pipe cleaners together, as they didn't have blue or pink, and stuck them into the head of the butterfly.
We iced an extra slice of cake and put a candle in it, as we didn't want to ruin the butterfly. Overall, it was time consuming but easy to make, although if we did it again we would put the smarties on right before presenting the cake rather than the night before, as it absorbed some of the icing colour and went purple-ish.
I made this butterfly cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday because she loves butterflies. I got the idea from the internet. I baked 2 round 9 inch cakes and sandwiched them with buttercream icing, cut it in half and placed one half over to appear as the two wings. I used buttercream icing to decorate the wings. For the head and the body of the butterfly, I mixed in some more powdered sugar to the pink icing I had left over and made a ball of icing and added some corn flour to prevent it from sticking it to my hands. I used tooth picks for the antennas, chocolate candies for the eyes and used a pen clip to make a print for the mouth. I pressed the sides of the body with my fingers to make it look more like the body of a butterfly.
I made this Butterfly cake for my 22nd birthday. I'm practicing my cake making skills. I hired a Wilton's butterfly cake tin from my local cake shop greased it well and baked a fudge cake because they're delicious! The only thing about chocolate cakes and white icing is the crumbs get in the icing when you smooth it on and you get cake freckles.
I then piped the purple and the yellow on leaving spaces for flooding the other colors. I used decorating gel for the colored bit on the wings. I piped a mouth and used a skewer to make the smile extra happy. I used two white chocolate buttons and green gel for the eyes. I wanted a butterfly with a cute face and big bug eyes so I was very proud of my creation and was sad to cut him up although he tasted delicious!
I made the butterfly cake using a 25cm round spring form pan. Iced it with purple butter icing and decorated it with small round colorful hard candy sweets and liquroo rope liquorice.
From the round cake cut a thin crescent shape to form the body of the butterfly. From the remaining cake cut a big teardrop shape and turn it small point facing down onto the 'body'. The smaller piece of cake makes up the other wing of the butterfly. Ice each piece individually and join together with icing.
I made this Butterfly Cake for my sister who passed away for her birthday. She loved butterflies. I baked 2 round cakes and let them cool completely. After they cooled, I cut them in halves and positioned them where they would look like wings. I used twizzlers for the antennas and used edible flower sprinkles for the outline of the wings. I used white icing and coloring to make the purple that was her favorite color.
This Butterfly 3rd Birthday Cake was made for a girl's 3rd birthday party. I basically made a round cake and cut it down the center then made like a peace sign with toothpicks outlining the other 2 pieces.
I needed to cut to get the butterfly effect. I then decorated it accordingly. Pretty simple.
